Helping students to flourish in mind, body, and spirit

Campus Minister Mary Sue Barnett has been in lay ministry since 1986. She holds an MA in Religious Studies from Spalding University and an MAR (Hebrew Bible) from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. She has taught religious studies and scripture courses in high school and college settings and has worked in the Women’s Center of Louisville Seminary. She is devoted to a wide range of social justice issues with particular care in the area of those disadvantaged due to gender discrimination. Mary Sue loves theological, scriptural and pastoral scholarship as well as poetry and preaching and is delightfully at home with the Dominican charism and the Dominican Sisters of Peace. She cherishes her students at St. Catharine and is committed to their flourishing in mind, body and spirit.

Chaplain Ben Brown comes to St. Catharine with 36 years of experience as a Roman Catholic priest. He has served half of these years in military ministry with all branches of the uniformed services, and half in civilian ministry as a pastor and guidance counselor in central Kentucky. He is particularly well known in this area for his conducting of christenings, weddings and funerals, as well as Masses.

Father Ben’s academic background includes an undergraduate program in Philosophy and Humanities, and advanced degrees in Theology, Church History and Counseling. His hobbies range from team sports and SCUBA diving to reading and musical theater.  Students find him to be a good listener and an engaging conversationalist.
