Meet Byron and Kay Corbett
Byron and Kay Corbett live in Bardstown, KY and have been both donors and volunteers at St. Catharine College for many years. Their first connection with St. Catharine came through their involvement with the Mid-Ky Chorus. Byron and his brother Ron both sing in the chorus and Kay, who works for St. Joseph Parish in Bardstown, worked behind the scenes to arrange a Sacred Concert by the chorus for the Parish’s Bicentennial Celebration.
Their involvement doesn’t stop there. Both serve each year on the St. Catharine College Golf Tournament Committee. The Golf Tournament is one of the College’s largest fundraisers. Byron works to find sponsors, volunteers and teams and always enters his own team as well. Kay tackles the huge undertaking of decorating for the live and silent auction fundraiser the night before the tournament. SCC Director of Events Angela Hoffman is one of the many at St. Catharine who has benefitted from their volunteer work. “Byron and Kay are indispensable help to me with the Golf Tournament. They are always willing to go above and beyond.”
The Corbetts have also served as Chairs of St. Catharine’s Nelson County Circle of Friends event and are financial supporters of the College as well. “We are helping students that are trying to help themselves. You’ve got to feel good about that,” says Kay about their service to St. Catharine. “Through working with St. Catharine we have found that a lot of our friends are also involved there, and we have made so many new friends as well. There’s a real camaraderie there.”
In addition to work, home, and volunteering their time, Kay and Byron have a son and a daughter and five grandchildren that keep them busy.
