FAFSA & FSA ID

The FAFSA should be filed as soon after January 1st as possible. If you are a resident of Kentucky, the Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) and the College Access Program (CAP) Grant have limited funding available. The grants will be awarded to eligible students until funds are exhausted.

The Federal Student Aid PIN was replaced with the FSA ID on May 10, 2015.  The new FSA ID consists of a user-created username and password to electronically access personal information on Federal Student Aid Web sites, including FAFSA on the Web. You can use your FSA ID immediately to sign your FAFSA, but must wait for the Social Security Administration (SSA) to verify your information before you can use the FSA ID to create a renewal FAFSA, make corrections to your FAFSA, or view your SAR.

 

Students and/ or Parents Filing a Tax Extension

 For students and parents who have been granted a tax filing extension, a copy of IRS Form 4868, Application for Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return form must be submitted. Additionally, a copy of all W-2 forms or, for those who are self-employed, a signed statement with the amount of the AGI and U.S. income taxes paid must be submitted. Once taxes are filed, students and/or parents must then update the FAFSA with the correct information or complete the IRS Data Retrieval process. The Financial Aid Office may require a tax transcript be submitted.

 

Verification

Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) has been contracted to complete all verification services on behalf of St. Catharine College.

Each year the U.S. Department of Education requires institutions of higher education to verify specific information reported on a student's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   KHEAA Verify will notify the student by email and/or phone to request all required verification documents, and will inform the student if documents received are incomplete or if additional information is needed.  All required verification documents should be submitted to KHEAA Verify as soon as possible.  It is the student’s responsibility to monitor their verification status until their verification status updates to “Verification Complete”.  Students and parents may contact KHEAA Verify with any questions concerning the receipt of their documents or the status of their verification. IRS Data Retrieval

Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) to update your FAFSA with IRS tax return information. If you have already submitted a FAFSA and would like to use the IRS DRT, start a correction by logging-in to your FAFSA. Once in the FAFSA, navigate to the "Finances" section, where the option to use the IRS DRT displays for eligible students and parents. You must indicate that you have completed a Federal tax return to be eligible to use the IRS DRT.

 

DocuSign ®

St. Catharine College's Financial Aid Office will be utilizing the DocuSign ® system beginning June 2015. The system allows us to send documents quickly without waiting for a paper letter to arrive in the mail. Students may utilize the system to sign documents quickly and securely.
