International Students

NOTE: Because American immigration, visa, and foreign student travel regulations and laws are in a state of change, non-citizen applicants are advised to contact both the College and the appropriate Embassy or Consulate to determine the most recent requirements.

St. Catharine College welcomes international students. In addition to the basic credentials required for admissions, applicants who are citizens of countries other than the United States must provide: 

Evidence of English language proficiency if the applicant’s native language is
not English. Proficiency may be demonstrated by one of the following:  
  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language and the written English test, commonly called TOEFL and TWE. A minimum score of 425 on the paper based test or 113 on the computer-based test is required for admission. Information on these tests is available by writing TOEFL, Educational Testing Service (ETS), PO Box 6155, Princeton, New Jersey, USA, 08543-5022. Applicants with lower scores may be considered by the Admissions and Scholastic Standings Committee if they have a B average in English language instruction at the secondary level or have a score of at least 75 on the Michigan Language Test. The Vice President for Academic Affairs may waive this requirement under special circumstances in cooperation with the Committee on Admissions and Scholastic Standing.
  • Satisfactory completion of one year of English instruction at another regionally accredited college or university of the United States.
