Interlibrary Loan and Reciprocal Borrowing
Should you require materials not otherwise available through the Emily W. Hundley Library, two additional means are available for obtaining needed information:
- St. Catharine College students, faculty and staff and Dominican Sisters of Peace may request materials from another library through interlibrary loan.
- St. Catharine College students, faculty and staff may visit another Kentucky academic library in person to borrow needed materials through reciprocal borrowing.
For more information about either option, please click a link above.
Interlibrary Loan
If needed resources are not available through the Emily W. Hundley Library, St. Catharine College students, faculty and staff and Dominican Sisters of Peace may request materials owned by another library through interlibrary loan (ILL). Before submitting an ILL request, please check AQUINAS to determine if the desired item is owned by the Hundley Library.
The library staff can assist you in locating the materials you need. You may ask at the service desk for assistance, or submit your request through Ask a Librarian.
You may also submit an electronic ILL request directly through WorldCat. After locating the desired item, click on the ILL icon
or click “Borrow this item from another library.” When you have filled in all required information, click to submit your request.
The requested materials will be sent from the lending library to the Hundley Library. When materials are received, you will be contacted by library staff.
Please note the following when considering interlibrary loan:
- ILL's can take a week or longer to arrive, so please plan accordingly when gathering your resources.
- Fees from lending institutions are rare. Should such fees be required, the patron requesting the materials will be consulted before a request is finalized. Such fees will be passed on to the borrowing patron or faculty member's academic department.
- Faxing may be requested but may involve an additional charge to the patron.
- An ILL request may be refused if it violates copyright law.
- Materials Available
The following generally can be obtained, subject to lending library policies:
- Books
- Videos
- Photocopies (subject to copyright restrictions)
- Materials NOT Available
The following generally cannot be borrowed:
- Items owned by the library that are currently checked out, on reserve, or to be put on reserve
- Entire periodical volumes
- Reference books
- Software
- Fine and rare books and manuscripts
If you have additional questions about interlibrary loan, please contact Interlibrary Loan Librarian Clara Logsdon at (859) 336-5082 ext. 1260 or clogsdon@sccky.edu.
