Admissions Procedures

Application Process
 
Step 1: Apply for admission to St. Catharine College; call the Admissions Office, ext. 1259nurse
 
Step 2: Contact the pre-nursing advisor  (ext. 1304 or 1205) to discuss prerequisite nursing course needs.

Step 3: Attend a mandatory application session.  Overview sessions will be held in Janurary,  February, March, August, September, and October.  Dates and times TBA.
 
Step 4:  Earn a GPA of 2.75 or higher in the 8 prerequisite courses, and earn at least a "C" in all prerequisite courses.
 
Key Point - Prerequisite course grades are the only grades considered when evaluating applicants.
Key Point - Students may repeat BIO 204 or 205 one time only to be considered for admission.
 
Step 5:  Schedule to take the Admission HESI examination.  The Admission HESI exam will be given in January, February, March, August, September, and October.  Admission HESI scores are evaluated as part of the selection process.  A $40.00 fee is due when the exam is scheduled.  The exam may be scheduled by contacting the Department of Nursing.  Dates and times TBA.
 
Step 6:  Complete an ADN program application and submitted to the Nursing Office.  Applications can be found at this link or in the Nursing Office.  Applications are due April1 for fall admission and November 1 for spring admission.
 
Key Point - Students with more than one outstanding prerequisite to be completed during the summer term are not eligible for fall program admission.
 
Upon Acceptance
 
1.  Submit all official  transcripts or grade reports, including the summer, no later than one week prior to the start of classes.
 
2.  Register for nursing courses by the Monday prior to the start of the semester.  Applicants who do not register by the Monday prior to the start of the semester forfeit their spot in the class.

REMEMBER...
  • Registration for application sessions is required by noon the day before the session.
  • The admission exam will be administered in the Hamilton Health & Science Building room 117 (space is limited).
  • All afternoon Admission HESI sessions will be held as scheduled.  Morning sessions will be canceled if fewer than 5 students register and there are slots available in the afternoon.   
  •   Fee for HESI is $40.00, due at registration.
  • Students are to register by contacting Yvonne McNary in the Nursing Department ext. 1205.
 
Upon Admission
 
1.  Submit Physical Examination form, including documents of immunization and Tb skin test  through CertifiedBackground.com
 
2.  Provide verification of current Healthcare Provider CPR certification through CertifiedBackground.com
 
3.  Provide verification of completion of SRNA certification through CertifiedBackground.com.
 
4.  Submit background check and random urine drug analysis through CertifiedBackground.com
 
 
Keypoint - The Kentucky Board of Nursing shall have the authority to deny access to completing  the RN licensure examination to anyone who has been convicted of a felony misdemeanor.
 
5.  Remit all remaining program fees to include the costs of the background check and drug analysis.

Nursing Assistant (SRNA) Requirement

One of the admissions requirements for entry into the program is successful completion of a state certified course or documentation of an active certificate. St. Catharine College's Center for Continuing and Community Education is now able to offer this class.
